The day before my wedding day there was an air raid in London, and, in rushing down the Underground stairs, I sprained my ankle.

When I went to walk up the aisle the following day, I had to hobble, which was very ungainly, and I nearly fell over. I was also rather taken aback to realise that there was no organ, as it had been removed from London to avoid possible damage during the Blitz... so there was a piano instead.

After the wedding, at the reception, we had a cardboard cake, because there were no ingredients available due to the rationing that was in force at the time.

THE END.
