When My Nana Got Gassed

I just thought that I would submit one of my Nana's memories of the second world war. When she was a girl she was out playing on the school playground with friends when all of a sudden she and her friends felt their eyes starting to sting. They didn't know what it was because they were only young but it was soldiers testing tear gas near by. When she got home she told her mum what had happened and i think she had to have a day of school because her eyes were so sore. My nana used to tell us this story quite often as though she thought that she was part of the war because she had witnessed soldiers doing their job and she was part of it. My nana died this year and i thought this would be a good way of a lasting memory of one of my Nana's stories about the second world war.
