The following poem was written by my grandfather sometime after the great war, exact date unknown, exactly who it was about is unknown but for me it brings out the darkness of war and sends a frightening chill down ones spine.....
Middle wall and blackened prints
A stairway coiled in darkness,
A marauding figure towered.
Clammy palms and a wondrous eye
Purified his diverse mind,
An insufferable insomniac
With complexion leathery yet light,
Fantasizing of feckless moments
His faded mantra struggled,
Entangled in deciet, relentless
Giant mystery surrounded.
A visionary of opium orange
Wasted in a ghost-like state,
Spirted actions left spellbound,
The name perished in historys swamp.
