==========================================

Dad used to tell of rolling steel at Bedfords thoughout the
night, and driving his motor bike over rubble to get back home to
Oughtibridge. He was in the home guard (HQ the beer cellar at the White
Hart in OB - where else?) and had an AA gun at the top of the bank above
the pub. He told stories of turning signposts around, painting railway
lines black with coal dust, dumping coal dust on the dams to try to
alter their shape, and string out light on the moors to try to fool the
bombers.
The White Hart is all that remains.
