Watch the TV trail for Summer of Salsa: Help playing audio/video Registration form WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT - URGENT UPDATEHundreds of requests to break records are received each week by Guinness World Records and until an attempt is made, they don't know when and where they're being set. On 27 June 2009, an event organised by Dancesport Team Cebu International Inc in the Philippines attempted the largest dance class record - the record we at BBC Hereford & Worcester were going for. Until then, we needed 2,500 people to turn up on Sunday 19 July at Sixways, but the record is now a massive 7,770! This has now been ratified by Guinness so, sadly, we can no longer go for that record attempt. The good news is that we will still be setting a brand new world record - the longest Salsa line. It has never been done before and we could set it with just 200 people, however, we plan to set it with ten times that amount. It also means that everyone can now have a go, even if you've not been to one of the workshops or any of the Salsa classes over the past few months. Only one step is all we need to do - the basic Mambo - and you can see that online or learn it very quickly on the day. So lets form the longest line possible and make it a really hard record for anyone to break. Learn the step on the day and BE PART OF MAKING A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD! WHERE:Sixways Stadium, Pershore Lane, Worcester. WR3 8ZE - just off junction 6 of the M5. Free parking is available on site and we have several overflow parks at: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites The event is FREE, with donations on the day going to BBC Children in Need.WHEN:The turnstiles will be open from 9am until 1pm on Sunday 19 July 2009. Everyone taking part in the record attempt must be on site no later than 1pm and must register and obtain their sticker. LIVE MUSIC:Latin bands Palenke, from London, and Mojito, from Manchester, will be performing on the BBC Summer of Salsa stage from 11am. FREE SALSA WORKSHOPS:Salsa workshops will take place in the Upper Premier Suite at Sixways from 10am. These will be 45min sessions run by three local Salsa groups; B60 Salsa, Just Latin Salsa and New Salsa Salsa. FREE DRUMLOVE AND CIRCUS SKILLS WORKSHOPS:Throughout the morning there will be performances and workshops from Drumlove. They are a group of drummers from Worcester, who promote unity through rhythm, by performing and teaching people of all ages, abilities and needs to play drums from around the world. There will also be: SHOW CASE PERFORMANCES:The final gather to run through is at 1.30pm. WHEN WILL IT BE OVER?The record attempt will be finished by 3pm WHAT DO WE WEAR?Whatever you want, but we would suggest that high heels are not a good idea. We will be dancing the routine on concrete, and probably trainers would be the best for the attempt. If you are interested in taking part in the workshops - ladies should wear leather-soled shoes if possible, or shoes with a bit of a heel, and avoid wearing trainers, as they are not the best thing to salsa in on a proper dance floor. How long do we need to dance the routine for?10 minutes. We will repeat the routine for that length of time. Will there be food available?Yes, food and drink will be available to buy on site. You can also bring your own picnic, should you so wish. Will Guinness World Record people be there?Yes. We will have an official adjudicator from Guinness with us to announce whether we succeed or not. Can we take pictures?Yes, and video. All we ask is that you send us any pictures or video footage after the event, for us to have the choice of using on our website. Email them to: worcester@bbc.co.uk Can people just come along to watch?Yes, ChildrenChildren are more than welcome to come along, and we will have activities for them such as drum workshops and circus skills, but they will be your total responsibility on the day. We have no creche facilities on site. Only those aged 10 and over will be allowed to take part in the actual attempt, and they should be familiar with the routine - there is a video on our website. They can however, take part in Salsa and Drum workshops. Can we buy official Summer of Sasla t-shirts on the day?Yes. We will have these available to purchase for £10.
