It's highly likely that "Panic Room" will eventually get a special edition DVD release like David Fincher's previous DVD stunners, "Fight Club" and "Se7en", although these took some time to put together. For those of you who can't wait to see the film again, it's out on a near feature-free DVD that's certainly worth renting. The disc's four-star rating is awarded on technical presentation.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Fincher's colour palette of earthy greens and browns contrasted with cold greys and dusky blues make for a tough picture transfer. The potential for these shades to turn into a murky mess is high, but high bit-rate encoding has ensured a detailed image that's high in subtle nuances, even when viewed on a projection set-up.
Sound On offer are both Dolby and DTS 5.1 mixes. Both are excellent in showcasing the often-subtle atmospheric effects of the movie. The DTS version is better in terms of spatial sound and in showcasing the double bass lead parts of the orchestral score.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Also on the DVD is a trailer, and cast and crew selected filmographies.
