BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Bob Brolly caught up with him prior to the event... Best known for his role as Barry in EastEnders, Shaun will be visiting shops and businesses in Nuneaton town centre before joining the carnival procession, which will then lead him to the Gala field. The event takes place on Sunday, 15 June. Shaun also starred alongside Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and a host of other celebrities in the BBC comedy Extras. Robin Thomas, Carnival Chairman said: “We are delighted that Shaun has been able to fit a visit to Nuneaton into his schedule and I’m sure he will be able to meet many of his fans on Carnival day. It will help with our promotion of Carnival and ensure that we are able to raise as much money as possible for local charities and community groups." You can hear the interview again by clicking on the link below: Help playing audio/video Carnival Queen 2008On Saturday, 26 April, Nuneaton's 2008 Carnival Queen and Maids were announced. ![]() Winners-Photo: Jim Jarvis, Heartland Evening News The five judges chose Kirsty Watson as the Queen and the Maids of Honour are Rebecca Wincott, Charlotte Jephcote and Sarah Finlayson with reserve Maid, Rachel Spencer. 18 girls were interviewed and took to the stage at Bedworth Civic Hall in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The compere for the evening was Tim Norton. Queen Manager Petrina Davies said: “The evening was a great success.
