BlastYou are in: Cornwall > Blast > Metal Madness in St Austell ![]() Metal Madness in St AustellMatt Nicholas A night of heavy metal was in store for music lovers on Thursday August 20th as three bands were set to lay waste to St Austell venue 'The Station'; Blast reporter Matt Nicholas donned his leathers and headed out! ![]() Ascension put on a brilliant performance Opening the evening were St Austell based band 'Dedhed' who mixed guitars with keyboard dynamics that created an original sound that was to set the standard for the rest of the evening. 'Ascension' were second to take to the stage, opening with original track 'Black Label' they ripped through a set of blistering original material and covers throughout their performance. They stunned the crowd with their ability and presence, with this only being their first gig, these promising upstarts should have more experienced bands shaking in their boots! Dave Rotheram, drummer for headliners 'Kernuyck' described the evenings line-up as; "Metal-licious!" ![]() Heavy metal in force in St Austell! The main act of the evening were Wadebridge's 'Kernuyck', a huge sounding three piece that whipped the crowd into a frenzy from the off with their signature heavy-as-you-like tracks with the odd cover thrown in for good measure. A guest appearance from 'Dedhed' vocalist led to a rousing rendition of Pantera's 'Cowboys from Hell' alongside the trio's original take on The Beatles' 'Eleanor Rigby' that went down a storm with the audience. As their set came to a close the audience was still thirsty for more, and the band truly delivered by playing a quenching encore of their crowd-pleaser; 'Drink the Beer.'
