BlastYou are in: Cornwall > Blast > Sophie's Diary Week 2 ![]() Sophie's Diary Week 2Thrown in at the deep end, Blast reporters Matt and Sophie were sent to the Eden Project to photograph The Kooks and Ladyhawke for the final of Eden Sessions 2009. Resulting in a press conference with the Kooks in a conservatory. Sophie has more. It is safe to say that when I found out that Matt and I would be going to photograph Ladyhawke and the Kooks at the Eden Project I was unbelievably nervous! Click on the link below to see Sophie's pictures of Ladyhawke at Eden: That was before I found out that we also had interview time with them! Being informed of this little gem merely the day before we were due to go down almost caused me heart failure! ![]() However, this was by far the most exciting opportunity I have been offered as a reporter and I was keen to get stuck in, as long as Matt did all the talking of course! (only joking!) We got to the Eden Project fairly unscathed, having nearly run out of petrol and my driving skills (or lack there of) getting me very lost in St. Austell! Once there we manoeuvred our way to the press desk and met Ben Foster who informed us that Ladyhawke would not be taking any interviews. This was a shame but we were consoled by the fact that Kooks front man Luke Pritchard had offered a press conference style interview at their secret cottage! We were then whisked away by mini-bus, down a dirt track to what felt like my doom I was so scared! Matt and I exchanged worried glances as we entered the cottage of the Kooks. Mr. Pritchard was cool, calm and collected(ish) and received our questions in the conservatory of the cottage of all places! It was all very cozy as myself, Matt and 5 other reporters all squeezed in! ![]() After our flash mic 'professionally' ran out of batteries half way through the interview we proceeded in a James Bond/Secret Squirrel-esque manner to change them over without being noticed and got a few of our own questions in. Cue an amazing sense of achievement as I realised that I actually managed this little feat without fainting! Our next mission was to take pictures of the gig from the press pit. Matt and I would take it in turns with one of us doing the Kooks and the other doing Ladyhawke. I opted to do Ladyhawke as I am a huge fan. Stepping into the press pit was a little daunting knowing that you had a couple of thousand people standing right behind you but I soon got far too involved with what I was doing to worry. We watched the rest of the gig from the safety of another press access only area where we got epic views of The Kooks and their fabulous performance.
