BlastYou are in: Cornwall > Blast > Matt's Blast Diary 1 ![]() Matt's Blast Diary 1Matt Nicholas Each week our Blast reporters will write a diary about what they've been up to. On successfully completing his first day in one piece, BBC Cornwall's Blast music reporter Matt reflects on his initial experiences. They say that the first day anywhere is always the most difficult, but this did not seem the case on my first day at Radio Cornwall. With warm welcomes from the staff and an inviting atmosphere the day was off without a hitch. After the obligatory health and safety course I was introduced to more of my colleagues-to-be, discussed events that I would like to cover and shown into the operations room where the radio programmes are broadcasted. ![]() In the afternoon I was introduced to the system in which I would be inputting my work, and how to save everything in the appropriate manner, but in the middle of learning I had the call that I was to appear live on Radio Cornwall, on my first day! After what I can only describe as a vocal stagger through the questions presented to me by (a very understanding) Laurence Reed, I left the studio proud at what I had just done but slightly embarrassed as I was convinced I had made a complete fool of myself! The high point of the day was of course being offered the opportunity to report The Kooks when they play The Eden Project as the final 'Eden Session' of the summer this weekend! (Which, of course. I accepted.) As I near the end of my debut at Radio Cornwall I am writing this diary, reflecting on the experiences of the day and what is sure to be a most excellent summer! last updated: 16/07/2009 at 10:40 |
