The organiser of the event, Liam Broderick, a third degree black belt who teaches at Truro Tae Kwon-Do Academy was delighted with the success of the competition. "We started the day with a minutes silence in honour of Remembrance Sunday and all those that have given so much for us all and every student also took the Tae Kwon-Do oath, reaffirming themselves to the peaceful, moral and respectful ideals of the martial arts," explains Liam. ![]() Members of the Truro group "The main competition itself was a delight to watch, with an excellent display of the dynamic Korean martial art famed for its high kicks and aerial techniques, using non-contact sparring that emphasises control and finesse rather than power or aggression. "But more importantly, students worked hard to make this a successful and fun day, raising a significant amount for BBC Children in Need. I would like to thank all the students involved for their courtesy and perseverance and for raising so much in sponsorship, Christine and Geoff Brown and family for providing the first aid and competition support for free, Patricia Finney for catering to raise money for Children in Need and Truro Leisure Centre, for their gracious reduction in costs for the facilities for the entire day." ![]() The international logo Cornwall Tae Kwon-Do was established in 1974 and provides both traditional and modern martial arts training suitable for all abilities from age six upwards.
