Going for a walk in nature is so beneficial for you and your child's health. Take a look at some of our favourite accessible family walks in the UK.

From stunning coastline strolls to secret woodland wanders, the UK boasts some amazing walks that will inspire you and your little one. Getting outdoors and walking can benefit both your physical and mental health, spark imagination and ignite your sense of wonder and adventure. We've collated some of the best family friendly walks, perfect for prams and little legs, for you to enjoy.

Many of the walks listed below are great opportunities to introduce children to nature and wildlife.

Planning ahead can take the time and stress out of days out, so make sure to take a look at the parking and facilities before setting off. Take snacks and drinks to enjoy and sun protection to protect little ones from the rays.

Tatton Park is a huge area of parkland near the town of Knutsford in Cheshire, North West England. The estate features a mansion, farm, gardens and more, but pedestrian access to the stunning parkland is free. There are paved walking routes and pram-friendly trails, so you can enjoy the scenery without getting muddy! Depending on the time of year, you might be lucky enough to see roaming deer, but remember to not get too close! You can find accessible toilets at the stable yard at Tatton Park.

Ideal for families, this peak is a popular destination due to the stunning views from the summit. There is a range of trails to follow, so you can pick a length most suitable for little legs! If you venture to the top, you'll see the remains of the Jubilee Tower, originally built to commemorate King George III's Golden Jubilee. There are picnic tables at the site and accessible toilets by the car park.

The Lake District has plenty of beautiful places to explore. Grizedale Forest, nestled in between Coniston and Windermere, is a wooded area filled with child-friendly things to do. Featuring sculpture trails, an adventure playground and plenty of wildlife to spot, the area has multiple pram-friendly paths and walkways.

Strathclyde Loch is a lake located just outside of Glasgow. The Loch is one of the city's most popular outdoor spaces for families with pram-friendly paths and trails. The Strathclyde Loch circular walk starts and ends at the car park, with flat terrain so older children can enjoy the scenery on their bikes too. 

Enjoy walking by the beautiful River Severn as it cascades from its source, located not too far from the forest. There are a number of trails to explore, depending on how long you want to walk, with some more accessible than others. The cascades boardwalk takes you along the river and is perfect for prams. There are toilets in the car park and a picnic area too to enjoy a packed lunch.

Go on a giant adventure and explore Northern Ireland's iconic World Heritage Site with the whole family. The green trail takes in views of the famous stones, and on most days, you can even see Scotland from the walk. If you'd like to go on the stones themselves, just park the buggy in the designated pram area and be careful in wet weather! Encompassing land, sea and mythology, this is a great opportunity to introduce your little one to new environments and incorporate history and playful storytelling to your adventure. This walk includes toilet facilities at the visitor's centre.

On the shoes of Lower Lough Erne you'll find Tom's Island, a scenic forested area which used to be cut off from the mainland by shallow water, but is now accessible by foot. With easy trails and footpaths, you can walk under the trees along the scenic peninsula, taking in the stunning landscape and the wildlife in the forest too. You'll also find a cafe, toilet facilities and bike hire in the area too.

Whilst Central London might not be the first place you think of to get into nature, the Royal Parks are brimming with wildlife amongst the busy streets of the capital. There are paved paths and trails in all of the parks, so are a great place to take a nature walk with a pram. 

Seaton in Devon is a seaside town located along the world-famous Jurassic Coast and is also home to a great nature reserve packed with wildlife. The walk through Black Hole Nature Reserve features pram-friendly boardwalk paths and several bird hides along the route, so you can spot birds with your little one (just like this one pictured, a black-tailed godwit). The site has accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities too.

Make sure to check out ticket prices, car park prices, facilities and everything else you need to know to have an enjoyable walk before you head out. It can save time and stress later on!
