I live in cambridge and I go to the fair most years, I liked the parade (I'm at the back of this photo in the octopus) which is always a laugh. I seem to remember there being less food and more stalls that year than there were this year though. . .

Why is it that the police feel as if its unacceptable to be smoking or selling any kind of drugs on the streets in the presence of other people, yet people are getting 'stoned' at Strawberry Fair in the blatent company of families with children yet feel as if this is perfectly convential and normal. I don't think anybody realises how unwarranted this is, and in my opinion is a disgrace to the british culture of music festivals.

the fair was great and the 2005 fair was where i got in contact with fire toys and now am an amature diabologist!
also the 2004 fair is where i met my girl friend of which we have now spent over a year together!
the only down side was that there was more rubish in the floor than previese years but still a highlight of the summer coz its free & free things are the best things. also its a great cultural event that brings people together. The 2006 fair will be my little brothers first year so im hoping for good weather & maybe joining in the parade. cool beans!!!

yeah it was terrible; people having fun, enjoying themselvs, excercising personal liberty...i think i even saw someone laugh once, shouldn't be allowed!

I completely agree with Anon and Cheese. I whole hearted would like to see the event drastically re-organised to keep out the drug users and abusers.
tom hart
As per it was totally brill the guys work so hard and still have never let us down. only 1 prob where's the main dance stage it was a bit bare wiyhout it so lets get it bac for the next one. a great day for THE WHOLE FAMILY
Anon
I thought the event was a total disgrace. It was rife with Class A drugs taken openly, with no action from the police who turned a blind eye. I think it is absolutely disgusting that an event which attracts children and families should encourage such blatant illegal drug usage.
Cheese
Everything that is wrong with the world shoved into a field for one day. The BBC's photo's do not represent the majority of what goes on.

I think its getting poorer every year, too many eating stalls and not enough live acts. Thank god the drum n bass massive were on the wheels of steel.

Why are there no photos of the reggae tent?!
Charlotte
This year i didnt find the fair as good there seemed to be far more people who were stoned and drunk this year than last year and seemed to get knocked about a lot more

I thought the Strawberry Fair was fantastic! Especially the children's area.
Total organisation was superb.

I thought it was a good year - Badwell Ash were superb and I managed to catch some of the younger bands like the Cohort Effect in the "up and coming" tent. The biggest let down was a bunch of drunks who kept climbing over from the back of the beer tent into the folk tent security area and even weeing up the side of the tent at one stage. kids? No! these were guys and women in there 50's - pathetic!
