Because one of the fab four - Aston Merrygold - hails from the fair city of Peterborough... They've been called one of the finest bands ever to appear on ITV's talent show, The X Factor, and were hotly tipped to carry off this year's title in this year's final.  Aston Merrygold However, JLS were just pipped to the post by solo vocalist Alexandra Burke in the final sing-off. Despite getting through to the head-to-head, and performing a stunning rendition of Hallelujah, the viewing public voted with their fingers and Alexandra emerged the victor. Why are we still making such a fuss about JLS, then? Well, because Aston Merrygold (the cute one with the seriously impressive vocals) comes from Peterborough - and so proud is he of his roots, that he's become a regular on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire's Peterborough Breakfast Show. Having gained his personal mobile number, through fair means or foul, our Peterborough team have been hounding Aston at the sort of un-Godly hours when all self-respecting popsters would normally be tucked in bed dreaming of their next Christmas number one! He's been keeping us up-to-date throughout the series, but following the emotional excesses of the final, we weren't able to rouse him, so instead, we called his dad, Oz... You could say that we were more than prepared to relive the weekend's excitement through Oz-mosis! (Sorry...) They wouldn't be the first X Factor runners up to make it big, and led by Aston's stunning vocals, they've got what it takes to succeed. The band did a great job of drumming up support in their home towns in the week leading up to the X Factor final, so why not take a little nostalgia trip and listen to Aston and the boys from JLS talking about their hopes for success, as they toured Peterborough in a massive Hummer, and took time out to play a few of their favourites live on stage at Aston's old school, Jack Hunt Secondary.
