Hadouken! @ The Junction, Wednesday 6th June 2007Standing in the queue it was easy to see who everyone was coming to see tonight, the sea of neon colours and multi-coloured shoes gave it away! Coming into the venue it was spacious and you could easily tell the crowd was buzzing and ready to dance. As Example headed out onto stage, the surprise of James (lead singer of Hadouken!) coming out and introducing them, admittedly got the party started! | | Hadouken!: the live experience |
Example were electric on stage, with his hilarious one-liners like “first things first man where’s the frosties?” he really got the crowd bouncing up and down and occasionally singing along to “No No No No” and the Britney Toxic Breath song. I’d give him 5 out of 5 for being purely amazing! Second on was ‘Does it offend you, yeah?’ they also knew how to get the crowd moshing and dancing like there was no tomorrow. With some great songs, the crowd clearly loved the “Whip it….Whip it good” song as nearly everyone was chanting the words after the first verse. All in all I’d also give them a 5 out of 5 for clearly saying that Cambridge has been the best gig so far on tour and they clearly meant it as the crowd were perfect for any band wanting to please and have a dancing frenzy. Last but by no means least, Hadouken! came on. As James announced that he’d been waiting to do this all day, I think everyone was thinking that we’d been waiting to dance to them all day. They opened with ‘The Bounce’ and that’s what everyone did, bounced like mental. Hadouken! played some new tracks that will be featured on the album, although no one knew the words the crowd still buzzed along to it and busted some great moves. When it came to ‘Liquid Lives’, most of the crowd were singing along to the chorus and when they declared a dance off between the left hand side of the crowd and the right, it really got things moving a lot more, even though no one thought it was ever possible. The dance off was to ‘Dance Lessons’ obviously and Hadouken! were loving us a lot. As they were winding down to the end, the last two songs were probably the best of the set and the phrase ‘leaving the best till last’ really did sum it up. With the crowd starting the penultimate song off with the Yeah Yeahs by about 3 lines into the song the whole crowd was moving up and down to the beat of 'Tuning In' and near enough, everyone was singing along. And the last song was on everyone’s lips ever since we were queuing up and possibly in the cars or buses and trains on the way to the gig. ‘That Boy That Girl’ was the perfect ender to the night as you could hardly hear James singing it from his microphone as the crowd was reciting it word for word. As they left the stage you could see the smile and thrill on everyone’s face as they left the building. I would say if you are looking to go to a gig and party really hard, you couldn’t get much better then seeing Hadouken! With their catchy lyrics and amazing vibe they are going somewhere in the world and it’s clear as day to see that. 100 out of 10 for the whole gig as it was just amazing. |
