Whether it was by telephone, online, or turning up in person, many people have been left ticketless and disappointed as the Cambridge Folk Festival looms on the horizon. While many have raised questions about the organisation of ticket distribution, it is obvious that the festival is still the apple in the eye of folk fans across the country.

It's not hard to see why, just look at the whopping lineup they have scheduled at Cherry Hinton Hall. Spanning from Thursday 26th July until Sunday 29th July 2007 the event boasts acts such as The Waterboys, Joan Baez and Nanci Griffith.

Woo-hoo or boo-hoo?

If you've been lucky enough to get your paws on tickets, then read on - it's a smashing line-up. If not - and we know that hundreds of you have been disappointed - then you can use the Have Your Say box at the foot of this page to air your moans and groans.

A medley of marvellous music

Kicking off on the Thursday you can catch Nick Barraclough & The Burglars and Kris Drever, while the full day festivities begin on the Friday with headliners The Waterboys supported by Steve Earle and Under One Sky.

Joan Baez takes centre stage on the Saturday along with Kate Rusby and Toots & The Maytals while the weekend is finished off in true folk style by Nanci Griffith, Ricky Skaggs and Toumani Diabate & Symmetric Orchestra.

Other standout acts include Bruce Cockburn, Rachel Unthank, Sharon Shannon and Bellowhead.

But the weekend isn't just about fast fingered folk legends and musical masters alike. There are plenty of showcases, workshops and youth activities to enable the audience to become the performer.

On the Friday Steve Knightley gives a songwriting session, Saturday they'll be queuing up for Québécois music from Le Vent du Nord and on Sunday guitar guru Martin Simpson will be hitting all the right notes with his strumming workshop.

Kids classes include sessions ranging from clog dancing to fiddle lessons and guitar accompaniment to piano accordion workshops.

Can't get there in person?

Don't forget that if you didn't manage to get a ticket, there will be top coverage from BBC Radio 2. Or, if you didn't get a ticket and have something to say about it then let it all out by using the Have Your Say box below.

The all-important details...

The Cambridge Folk Festival will be running from Thursday 26th July until Sunday 29th July 2007 at Cherry Hinton Hall, Cambridge. Tickets are few and far between but there may be returns - you can get the latest news by visiting the official website or by calling (01223) 357851.

Why not Cambridge
This year I've decided not to go to Cambridge, I've seen most of the acts before, kinda gets a bit tedious - be good to see someone really different, like Clannad or Loreena McKennitt perhaps. This year I'm giving my patronage to the Wickham Festival (Hampshire) - Jethro Tull are headlining, with some of the acts from Cambridge there too (at least those are the ones I haven't seen before). Hope the weather improves for you guys going this year!

No longer a folk festival goer!
The folk festival has been a pleasure for me since I can remember however, it's lost it's charm. The music is fantastic but it seems somewhat marred by upperclass toffs and their determination to claim 'their picnic spot'. It used to be part of the build up, queuing for tickets but now it's everyone out for themselves. This year I'll be listening with Radio Cambridgeshire in the garden with friends and ale!
