Hosts of golden daffodils all around the village...The Thriplow Daffodil Weekend is a sight and sound for the senses! 8,000 visitors a year enjoy this unique event which raises money for charity. There are plenty of activities for the whole family - so take your choice: - Wander at your leisure, walk round the lanes and footpaths or visit the open gardens.
- Sit in the church and be transported by the melodious music.
- Step back in time and visit the village Smithy which will be operating for the weekend.
- Listen to the dulcit tones of the Whittlesford Red Lion Folk Club perfoming some marvellous music whilst sipping your tea
- Enjoy the sassy sound of the Perse School Swing Band who will have your toes tapping.
- Take a dray ride with the Heavy Horses through the village.
All the usual attractions will be on offer - private gardens will be open, heavy horses giving dray rides, the village smithy open and operating, home made teas and scrumptious cakes served at three locations, stalls on the green, craft barn, sheep dog demonstrations, Morris dancers, children's entertainment and much more - something for everyone! The external charity this year is the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) code named 'Anglia One'. The EAAA is a registerd charity which receives no government or national lottery funding. They are totally reliant on voluntary contributions to operate the service which operates 7 days a week and responds to approximately 100 calls a month. Anglia One is a fully medically equipped helicopter serving the people of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk. The village of Thriplow can be found 8 miles south of Cambridge, near Duxford Imperial War Museum. |
