pink vacuum cleaner with hair Bristol artists are inviting you into their homes and creating an art trail through the streets.

Called Front Room, the event is now in its third year and has attracted over 3,000 visitors.

'Hoovers with attitude'

The trail is set in lower Totterdown and is an easy walk which takes in over 60 local artists.

The event is free and promises something for everyone's tastes - even the little ones - with street performance and entertainment too.

"The kids particularly love anything off the wall, but domestic humor seems to have a wide appeal," says Liz Biggin, creator of "Hoovers with Attitude".

There will be a vast range of work with paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, artists books, props, poetry and installation.

But the real beauty of it is the chance to cozy up to the artists in their own rooms and maybe find out how they work.

Two-way street

Cathy Hicks, a mixed-media artist, says it's a lot of fun: "It's such a feelgood atmosphere and because it's in the home it's not intimidating like gallery can be - we get to show that artists can be friendly!"

And it's not just a one way street: "The creative arts can be incredibly isolating at times with artists working alone in their studios," says Nicky Knowels, an exhibitor.

"The Totterdown art trail has proven a fun and successful way of promoting local arts to the wider community."

All participating houses will display black flags with an orange duck so if you're passing, pop in and experience art in the comfort of The Front Room!

The event takes place onNovember 14, 15 and 16. Fri 6-9pm, Sat/Sun 11-5pm.
