This week See Hear investigates why hate crimes against deaf and disabled people in Britain often go unrecognised by the police, the Crown Prosecution Service and the judiciary.

We look at the funding crisis facing Britain's Deaflympics team and ask a representative from UK Sport why the organisation has withdrawn funding for Britain's deaf athletes.

And we meet the Hearing dog who has had such a positive effect on her 7-year-old owner that she has been nominated for an award at Crufts.

This week on See Hear we take a look at the fascinating life of deafblind Roman Catholic priest Father Cyril Axelrod. He has been an inspiration to Deaf and deafblind people all over the world. He speaks over ten different languages and has travelled from South Africa to China working to change attitudes towards the Deaf. We follow his remarkable journey in 2005 to meet the Pope in Rome and we join him today at his North London home where he tells us how he has come to terms with losing his sight.

In October last year outdoor sports instructor, Colin Macdonald, was given a sentence of 12 years for the sexual abuse of deaf children under his supervision between 1973 and 1983. See Hear revisits the case and talks to some of those who gave evidence against him in court and have bravely waived their right to anonymity. We also hear from the N.S.P.C.C. and Northern Constabularies police force who talk about abuse and what to do if it has affected you or anyone you know.

This week See Hear celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the UK's first multi channel cochlear implant, which was given to a toddler deafened by meningitis. We go along to meet that little boy, Michael Batt, who is now a 23-year-old man.

We see how much implants have changed in the last twenty years and find out how Michael's mum struggled to raise the money and support for an operation previously unavailable in the UK.

We'll also be catching up with 27-year-old Thea Kyle who had her cochlear implant operation in adulthood. We followed Thea through the stresses and strains of her operation, and we were there when she heard the sound of her voice for the first time. Eighteen months later we go back to visit her, to find out what impact the implant has had on her life.

This week on See Hear it's an Arts special. We look back at the fifty year career of the late Tony Hart, the television artist who inspired generations of children. We take a look at his landmark programme Vision On which was designed for both deaf and hearing children, using little dialogue but communicating with quirky, sometimes surreal animation, art, sign and performance. With tributes from his daughter Carolyn Ross, on screen colleagues Sylvester McCoy and Wilf Lunn and Aardman Animations - the creators of Morph - we find out more about the man behind the art.

Two young Deaf winners of the National Youth Disability Film Awards talk us through their Wallace and Gromit inspired animation and we visit Deaf music ensemble Hi-Notes who last year beat thousands of hearing entrants to perform their composition at the Schools Prom at The Royal Albert Hall. And we meet the casting director in a race against time to find a young Deaf actor for a major new CBBC comedy drama.

In 2004, a stash of old film reels was found in the basement of an empty house by a Polish builder. At that time, no one could have guessed what fabulous treasures they would reveal. Their discovery and subsequent identification as British Deaf Association film footage dating back to the 1930s, has since had a profound impact on historians, not least of all many members of the deaf community. In 2007, See Hear broadcast some of the reels in a documentary about its contents, which included lost footage of Leslie Edwards, the mastermind behind the film reels. Since this time, new details have come to light. See Hear takes a second opportunity to delve into this rare footage and revisit the lost world of Leslie Edwards and 1930s deaf culture....

With Valentine's Day fast approaching love is in the air on See Hear.

Last year's Valentine's show took three bachelors who were unlucky in love, gave them flirting and style tips, and sent them out on blind dates. There were plenty of cringe worthy moments, but the dates seemed to go well. Have the lads been more successful with the ladies since then?

And this year it's the ladies turn - 19 year old Lizzie has had a tough time of it lately which has really dented her confidence. See Hear's romance experts look to boost her self esteem with a make-over and romantic date at a top London location. Will See Hear manage to turn her love life around?

in a brand new series being filmed this spring.

We're looking for a young talented actor/actress to play the

youngest child in a musical step-family. This main role is a

cheeky, clever and lovable character. The youngest in a family comprised of a white British dad & an African American mum, this

character has 4 older siblings to contend with, so needs to be sparky and energetic!
