Disability film festival begins

The three day Wolverhampton Disability Film Festival opens on Thursday 23rd April 2009 at the Light House.

The festival aims to celebrate the talents of disabled filmmakers, stimulate debate and give disabled people an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents.

A range of films will be screened over the weekend, both long and short, featuring various genres of cinema including comedy, drama and animation.

Highlights include:

  • The Best of Oska Bright - A rare chance to see a selection of short films from Oska Bright; the original festival of short films run by, and for, people with a learning disability.
  • Short and feature films from UK and International disabled filmmakers.
  • A special Q & A session about Magic Hour, the new production fund from 104 Films , which supports the production of short films by disabled filmmakers.
  • Disability, Health and Fitness films from the Media Archive for Central England.

Festival Reception: Motion Disabled at Wolverhampton Art Gallery on Friday 24 April, 6pm

Motion Disabled artist Simon McKeown and Producer Dr Paul Darke, along with academic Robin Bunton discuss the ideas behind the Motion Disabled project in the free reception.
