David Bassinder, from Dudley, is 32 and has always been into art. Drawing from a young age and studying art at college. He told me that he was inspired by the local community in the Black Country and "anguish" within it. ![]() CCTV inspired illustration He keeps his work fresh by picturing how things look through a camera on a mobile phone or CCTV. He told me: "I just draw from the top of head, using my memory of different experiences. Keeping the sketches loose and putting all the energy into the drawings." David has had several different exhibitions in the area. His latest, City Life is currently on show at the Light House in Wolverhampton. It's all about street life. All about the communityA few years ago, David and Phil Broking got together with friends and founded the community group Open Mind Youth. ![]() Mural at Russells Hall Hospital They combined their talents to provide the local community with workshops that teach DJing, MCing, photography and grafitti art. The group's projects help young people to explore and question their lives. David has been employed by Birmingham, Dudley and Sandwell councils.
