Carl along with Stephanie Moore and Rudy Parkes, West Mids Fire Service, talk to Ed Doolan about the project. ![]() Bobby Moore, 1966 Carl is heading abroad in support of The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness for bowel cancer. The fund was set up in 1993 by Stephanie Moore, wife of England footballing legend Bobby Moore who died from bowel cancer at the age of 51. The group has raised over £10 million towards bowel cancer research and organises international projects that give volunteers the chance to help develop underprivileged communities. Carl and a team are part of 'Project Ecuador'. It involves an eleven day trip to renovate a dilapidated school and football pitch in partnership with the local population in El Pedregal. ![]() Helping communities abroad Speaking live on BBC WM's Ed Doolan Show, Carl said: ""It's become a lot more poignant for me as a very dear relative of mine has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer. It's terminal. "But if (the doctors) had found it in time they could have saved him. Bowel cancer actually has a very good recovery rate if it's diagnosed in time. "We're going right into the Andes. There's a school that needs renovating and I'll be labouring. The great thing about The Bobby Moore Fund is not only to go abroad to raise money for charity at home but to do some good for people to help themselves abroad." ![]() Volunteer at work Listen to Carl Chinn telling Ed Doolan about his trip by clicking the link at the top of this page.Ed also talks to Stephanie Moore, Bobby Moore's wife and Rudy Parkes from the West Midlands Fire Service who raises money for charity.Carl will be talking more about his trip over the coming weeks on his Sunday afternoon show, 1-4pm on BBC WM 95.6FM.
