The BBC Big Screen, by the Town Hall in Chamberlain Square, operates throughout the day with a continuous feed of local news, weather and traffic updates from BBCi. The high-tech screen relays a mixture of live BBC television programmes, local events such as the Lord Mayor's Show and Birmingham ArtsFest, alongside big international events. ![]() Pigs Dream The screen also carries the work of the best talent in Birmingham, including young film makers, video artists and community groups. Throughout August Big Screen will be showing a range of animations for young and old alike, along with a selection of films from the last few years of Screen West Midland's digital shorts. They will be: A Cat’s Tail by Alan MoultA tale of a scruffy, well-loved pussy cat that holds a torch for an unobtainable love. Bob’s Van by Paul NocherTook a trip, 100 miles away, searching for the rent, we could think of no other way, I’m happy to be in Bob’s van… Bone Creature by Teagan RichardsStranded in a purgatory world, the ‘Bone Creature’ seeks his destiny. Burial at Sea by Jonathan ReynoldsA coffin slowly sinks amidst a vivid underwater landscape. Cat & Mouse by Ali AssafLove hurts for the world’s most infamous cat and mouse duo in this traditionally animated homage. Diversion by Sam AtkinThe tale of an overworked postman who is stuck within his routine & struggling to cope, however when he is diverted from his usual round he experiences some eye-opening consequences. ![]() Animation: Fetch Fetch! By Dana DorianColin takes his dog, Cumberland, to the park to play fetch. However, Cumberland has other ideas as to what makes a fun day out. Indian Rain Dance by Manjeet GillA ghostly female controls the weather through the power of dance.
