RESCUE is an annual spring clean up event, when community groups lead teams of volunteers and transform an area from litter hotspot to beauty spot.

You can register as individual or with a group of friends and join your local clean up team; alternatively you can register as a group and nominate your own litter hotspot to work at.

"RESCUE is one of the highlights of the environmental year in Reading. People get together, have a great time and can see a real change."

Steve Waite, Reading's Lead Councillor Environment & Consumer Affairs

This year the BBC Radio Berkshire Actiondesk is donning it's wellies and helping with the clean up! Emma, our environmentally friendly Actiondesk Producer and Amy our CSV Volunteer Co-ordinator will both be helping teams all over the borough making it beautiful and litter free.

Last year over 300 volunteers got involved and collected 45 tonnes of rubbish from around Reading.

Waterloo Meadows Children's Centre in Katesgrove, will again be the RESCUE HQ for the weekend, providing refreshments for volunteers.

You can also get your hands dirty creating your own piece of art out of junk during arts activities between 11am and 3pm at the HQ.
