Tree Planting Fact FileThe woodland is to be named 7 Oaks Wood after seven very old English Oaks growing adjacent to the planting area and will comprise of native tree species such as Oak, Ash, and Field Maple to enhance local biodiversity. The Royal Borough's countryside rangers invite you to help create a new wood at Ockwells Park nature reserve in Maidenhead.
People of all ages are invited to join the rangers to plant 1,500 saplings and celebrate National Tree Week (Wednesday November 21 to Sunday December 2). Every sapling you plant will contribute to making the new 7 Oaks Wood. As it grows and develops it will improve the borough’s biodiversity, by increasing the wildlife value of the area for animals and insects. All you need is some sensible outdoor clothing and footwear - and of course bring along a spade!  Our very own Emma Lawrence from the Radio Berkshire Actiondesk will be at the event taking your pictures which will be posted on our website Rangers and volunteer tree wardens will be on hand to show you how to plant the trees and to answer any questions. Refreshments will also be provided and some copies of the Good Seed Guide books will be available. The event is free and open to all. There will also be signs directing you to the planting area on the day.
