Antoinette

Antoinette

Find out about this fresh young R 'n' B talent from Reading - read her biography below and then listen to her audio clip. Feel free to leave your comments via the Have Your Say box below.

Hi my name is Antoinette, I am 24-years-old and I live in Reading.

I first got into music when i was a little girl. I used to watch my dad do mic checks with his sound system. I would always be messing around with his amps and decks trying to copy him. When he was doing mix tapes I used to sing along holding the microphone.

My parents used to play music everyday and I would dance around and sing with them. I was brought up listening to music like Dub, Reggae, soca and soul and with this I started to develop my own taste in music like R'n'B and Rap.

I loved groups like Salt 'n' Pepa, En Vogue, Shanice, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. I used to put on shows in the playground at primary school with my friends.

As my interest in music grew I joined the school choir, performed at the Hexagon and did musicals at school. As I grew older I started listening to Aaliyah. I loved her style of music and way of singing. She was my inspiration and is my favourite artist. I used to sing to her songs all day on my Karaoke machine.

I then tried writing a song on my own and it sounded good, so then I started to write some more. I recorded my first demo in Running Frog studios in Windsor with a friend. They liked how we sounded and would keep us in mind for other tracks they had.

I then met up with Zash who produces music. He liked my way of writing and flowing on a track, so he made me tracks which i wrote to and which I recorded in his studio.

One of the tracks i recorded with him went on to be accepted for the Talic compilation project at Reading College. That's when I went back to Running Frog Studios to record two more tracks.

This brings me up to right now and my music with Inex Records. I love writing my own songs, it makes me happy to know that people are actually inspired and can relate to what I write; I write what comes from the heart.

In the future I would like to be known as a world-wide artist that changes people's lives for the better with my songs.
