Asian Network Represents 2026
Please ensure you have read the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice before submitting your demo.
Eligibility
1. You must be aged 18 or over at the closing date of 22nd February 2026
2. The talent search is not open to employees, agents or contractors of the BBC or any of its subsidiaries, their immediate families or any other person connected or involved with the talent search who have worked for the BBC or BBC Asian Network in the last 3 years
3. You must have the right to live and/or work in the United Kingdom.
4. You must have permission from your current employer to take part.
5. We actively encourage disabled applicants and value the positive impact that difference has on our teams. Entries
5. To enter the talent search, you must submit between 5 to 10 minutes of audio pilot via BBC Uploader. Entries may be made online here.
6. You must also supply your social media handles.
7. The talent search opens on 19th January 2026. Entries received before this date will not be considered.
8. The closing time for entries is 23:59:59 on 22nd February 2026. Submissions received after this time will not be considered.
9. If you enter more than once or re-submit your entry for any reason, we will only consider the last entry.
10. Entries must not contain any defamatory, offensive or any other unsuitable material. Entries must be suitable to be broadcast by the BBC according to its guidelines.
11. Valid entries will be judged on the following criteria:
a. A passion for music across genres including British Asian R&B / Rap, Tamil, Pakistani, Punjabi and Bengali / Bangladeshi and more generally British Asian and South Asian Popular culture
b. We are looking for a range of personalities and a mixture of entertainment and personality presenters alongside music experts
c. Lively and entertaining characteristics as evidenced via social media and application
d. Entries will be judged through the following process:
Shortlisting
12. A panel from Asian Network will review the entries and select the guest presenters on the criteria above. The selected candidates will be contacted no later than 27th February 2026 (date may change) and may be required to answer a number of questions including confirmation that they are available for the dates required to pre-record. If a selected candidate cannot be contacted or make the required days after reasonable attempts in the BBC's opinion have been made to do so, the BBC reserve the right to ask another candidate.
15. A selection of entrants may also be interviewed by the BBC.
16. Candidates may not be contacted if they are unsuccessful. No feedback will be provided.
17. This talent search may not be the only method Asian Network deploys to find all 12 new voices. If you are a BBC Staff member or connected to the BBC, then you should speak to your line manager if you wish to look at opportunities to present.
18. Successful candidates will present a minimum of 4 shows in an allocated programme slot on the schedule across one month.
19. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to the BBC Asian Network studios in Birmingham to record their programmes. There will be a set time for recording each week. The successful candidates will need to be available for all recordings to proceed initially.
20. The successful candidates will be paid a fee for each show they present.
21. You irrevocably and in perpetuity grant all consents and waive all rights necessary for the BBC to film and record your contribution and to use recordings featuring your image and/or voice and to exploit the same in any and all media now known or in future invented throughout the world in perpetuity without further liability to you.
22. You hereby with full title guarantee irrevocably assign to the BBC all rights in your contribution for the BBC to use it throughout the universe in all languages in perpetuity in any and all media now known or in future invented throughout the world.
General
23. By entering the talent search, you warrant that you have legal capacity to enter the talent search and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
24. You must disclose to the BBC full and complete details of any and all criminal convictions, criminal charges and/or criminal and/or civil proceedings of any kind whatsoever from any country, and since completing the application form, you confirm that you have not been charged with any offence. Criminal convictions will not necessarily result in the rejection of an application and applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
25. You must not be subject to any legal proceedings (whether criminal or civil) in any part of the world and must inform the BBC immediately and in writing if you become aware of any such potential or actual legal proceedings.
26. If there is something in your personal history that would make for negative press or publicity, then you should make the BBC aware immediately and in writing. If you become aware of anything that might in the BBC's opinion jeopardise or otherwise impact on the BBC or Asian Network. We ask all applicants familiarise themselves with the BBC values and confirm that there is nothing in their recent past that conflicts
27. The BBC Uploader terms and conditions and the BBC's Terms of Use also apply to all entries.
28. To the extent there is any inconsistency between the BBC Uploader terms and conditions and the BBC Terms of Use and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall take precedence.
29. For the avoidance of doubt, for the purposes of the Terms of Use entries to the talent search are not considered a creation.
30. You are reminded that your participation in this BBC talent search (including successful candidates) cannot be used in commercial advertising or promotions, to attract external funding, to lobby or campaign, or to attract donations.
31. The BBC's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
32. The BBC reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these Terms and Conditions, who has acted fraudulently in any way, who (in the BBC's sole discretion) brought the BBC into disrepute, or to withhold or withdraw the offer of a presenting slot if in its opinion entries do not reach the required standard.
33. The BBC reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or cancel this talent search at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside its control. In this event, a notice will be posted on the Asian Network website at www.bbc.co.uk/asiannetwork
34. The BBC does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any server, Internet access system, programme software or otherwise which may result in any entry being late or not being properly registered or recorded.
35. To the extent permitted by law, the BBC will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.
36. This campaign won't have an 'on air' launch. We will keep it to the press announcement and targeted social promos.
37. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Eligibility

2. You must have the right to live and/or work in the United Kingdom and/or Republic of Ireland.
3. You must have permission from your current employer to take part.
4. You are allowed to re-apply if you were unsuccessful in previous years (2020, 2021, 2022 or 2024).
Entries
5. To enter the talent search, you must submit a 5 minute audio pilot, no larger than 100MB. Entries may be made online here.
You must also supply your social media handles.
6. The talent search opens at midnight on Monday 15th September 2025. Entries received before this date will not be considered.
7. The closing time for entries is on 23:59:59 on Sunday 28th September 2025. Submissions received after this time will not be considered.
8. Only one entry per person is permitted. If you submit more than one entry, only the first entry received will be considered.
9. Entries must not contain any defamatory, offensive or any other unsuitable material. Entries must be suitable to be broadcast by the BBC according to its guidelines.

Clear evidence of some radio broadcasting or podcast experience and technical ability
Passion for music and youth culture
We are looking for a range of personalities and a mixture of entertainment and personality presenters alongside music experts
Lively and entertaining personality as evidenced via social media and application
Entries will be judged through the following process:
Shortlisting
11. A panel from Radio 1, Radio 1 Dance and Radio 1 Anthems (the Radio 1 brand) will review the entries and select the best presenters on the criteria above. The selected candidate will be contacted no later than 31st October 2025 (date may change) and may be required to answer a number of questions including confirmation that they are available for the dates required to either pre-record or broadcast live. If a selected candidate cannot be contacted or make the required days after reasonable attempts in the BBC's opinion have been made to do so, the BBC reserve the right to ask another candidate.
12. A selection of entrants may also be interviewed by the BBC.
13. The Radio 1 brand Christmas Schedules are provisionally intended to be published in December 2025. Unsuccessful candidates may not be contacted to inform them that they were unsuccessful.
Successful Candidates
14. The successful candidates will be asked to guest present a show on the Radio 1 brand (the specific time slot to be confirmed by Radio 1 Network). The shortlist panel will place the successful candidate in a slot where the shortlist panel feel is best across the Radio 1 brand Christmas programme schedules and their decision will be final.
15. Successful candidates may be asked to present more than one programme slot on the schedules and programmes may be repeated one or more times.
16. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to the BBC Studio that broadcasts the programme they have been selected for. There is however the possibility that some shows will be pre-recorded remotely.
17. A successful candidate will be paid a fee for each show they present.
18. Some of the proposed slots are simulcast and therefore the successful candidate may also be broadcasting on multiple stations under the Radio 1 brand or 1Xtra.
17. Successful candidates may be asked to present more than 1 programme slot on the schedule.
18. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to the BBC Studio that broadcasts the programme they have been selected for. There is however the possibility that some shows will be pre-recorded remotely.
