Steve Pope will build the mosaic from donated digital photographs |
A photographer is inviting people to put pictures of themselves in a 30,000-image mosaic he is creating of Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. Steve Pope aims to put together a billboard-sized art work of the venue using photos of "just about anything".
Pictures can be sent via his website, www.My2pix.com. Mr Pope said a 2 charge would cover costs, with half to the Ty Hafan children's hospice.
He said he hoped to raise 30,000 for the hospice within months.
Mr Pope said the scheme would give people the chance to put pictures of themselves in an art work which is to go on permanent display at the stadium.
He said: "I really want to create something unique, Welsh, and which other people can be a part of".
He said pictures could be of "rugby trips, family groups, holiday pictures, events like birthday parties and weddings, in fact, just about anything.
"It will be capturing a moment in time, and an ideal opportunity for clubs or individuals to have a team or winning photo saved in a piece of art history."
The progress of the mosaic can be tracked online as images are added each day, with contributors able to find their photograph and read messages attached to each one.
His website on the project states: "We are particularly interested in photographs taken at the Millennium Stadium.
"Whether at a rugby or football match or even a concert, your favourite photo from your trip to the stadium could become part of art."
