Low-flying is high on the agenda
A major conference on low-flying is being held in the north-east of England on Friday.

Hosted by Northumberland County Council, representatives from the RAF, National Air Traffic Service and local authorities will attend.

Northumberland is a designated low flying area, and in the training year 2003/4, 3,528 hours of low-flying training were held in its airspace.

The meeting, open to the public, is at County Hall, Morpeth, from 10.45am.

Councillor Peter Hillman, the county's executive member for community services, said: "We are delighted to be holding this conference and it is a first-hand opportunity to hear exactly what is planned and how it is controlled."

The conference will also look at the problems of controlling civil and military aircraft, and the effect of wind farms on radar.
