A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling 200ft (61m) while walking in the Lake District.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called at midday on Sunday to the high face of Grasmoor Front, close to Crummock Water.

The man, who is from Manchester, was treated at the scene before being lowered 800ft (244m) down the fell.

He was then winched into the helicopter and taken to West Cumberland Hospital with serious head injuries.
