Lloyd's career spanned 35 years Copyright: Harold Lloyd Trust |
The work of Harold Lloyd both in front and behind the cameras is being celebrated at exhibition in London. Lloyd made a name for himself as a silent comic actor during the 1920s and 30s in films such as Safety Last and The Freshman.
After he retired from acting he travelled the world taking photographs, including 100,000 pictures of women such as Marilyn Monroe.
The exhibition at Proud Galleries runs until 29 January.
Among the 50 photographs provided by the Harold Lloyd Trust is the iconic one of Lloyd hanging from a clock face taken from the film Safety Last.
There are also behind-the-scenes shots of Monroe taking a break by a pool as she was doing publicity photographs for the film How to Marry a Millionaire.
Other stars Lloyd photographed included Jayne Mansfield and pin-up model Betty Page.
The granddaughter of the actor, Suzanne Lloyd, was given control of his vast archive when he died in 1971.
Harold Lloyd: Silent Pictures runs from 9 December - 11 February at Proud Galleries, 5 Buckingham Street, off the Strand, London.
